In the course of the meeting, which took place in the fields of Astana Economic Forum, the Head of State greeted Ban Ki-moon, noting his contribution to the development of the United Nations.
- You have visited Kazakhstan many times. We worked together on a program of nuclear disarmament. August 29 is celebrated throughout the world as a day of action against nuclear testing. We have very friendly relations with you and with the Republic of Korea, the President of Kazakhstan said.
In turn, Ban Ki-moon stressed the importance of the AEF in discussing and finding solutions to overcome global challenges.
- I am very glad to visit Kazakhstan for the first time in its new status. There are many global problems, and I am ready to give support to the solution of them. The Astana Economic Forum has become an important platform for discussing not only relevant current topics, but also issues of the future of global development, the Chairman of the Boao Forum for Asia said.
During the meeting, the sides discussed cooperation issues between the Boao Asian and Astana Economic Forums, as well as discussed prospects for networking in cultivating "green technologies", scientific innovation and education.
