Dariiga Nazarbayeva, Chairwoman of the EAMF Organizing Committee, the Senate deputy of the Parliament, Akhmetzhan Yessimov, Chairman of the Board of "Astana EXPO-2017" National Company, Abdullah Gul, ex-President of the Republic of Turkey, Jose Manuel Barroso, ex-Head of the European Commission, Bill Richardson, former US Energy Minister, as well as other well-known Kazakh and foreign political and public figures, analysts, representatives of the world's leading media have taken part in the Forum.
Opening the event, the Secretary of State addressed the participants with a welcoming speech on behalf of the President of Kazakhstan, in which it was noted that "over the fifteen years of its activity, the Eurasian Media Forum has earned a deserved authority by becoming a forum for constructive discussion of not only the current issues of the journalistic community but also broad palette of global problems ".
In addition, the welcoming address stressed that the world has entered the era of the new information environment formation and the determining factor for sustainable development is readiness for the forthcoming social and technological changes. The "green economy" issues in the Forum’s agenda, as a key direction of changes in the technological order, are consonant with EXPO-2017 exhibition’s theme in Astana.
The agenda is to cover such topics as stability in the era of crises and steps toward global leadership in world markets, political processes in resolving the Syrian crisis, investment as the driving force of integration, and the security strategy for the digital revolution.
