During the meeting the Head of State announced the appointment of Saken Zhasuzakov as a Minister of Defense, laying stress on the role of the Army in prevention and neutralization of contemporary threats.
- Next year marks 25 years since the formation of the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan, which is the important landmark in our country’s history. The Army is the main guarantor of the Republic’s sovereignty. Under current challenging conditions throughout the country and the world the role of the Armed Forces grows. The threat of international terrorism, hybrid war, growing arms race are urging to pay increased attention to the issues of national security, Nursultan Nazarbayev said.
President of Kazakhstan highlighted a number of top-priority goals calling for special attention.
- We need to go on strengthening work on improving military discipline, social security of servicemen and maintaining high combat readiness of the Kazakh Army. We should take the issues of military training to a higher quality level, while continuing to work on equipping the armed forces with modern weapons and technology. For this purpose all the necessary funds will be allocated. We need to create our own advanced military-technical sector of industry. In this connection, the point of reorganizing the corresponding structure to a special corporation or a Ministry of Military-Industrial Complex will be addressed to, said the Head of State.
Nursultan Nazarbayev also stated that another critical matter is training a new generation of soldiers
- To this end, the relevant institutions and universities have been established. Now we must work on upgrading the training of uniformed personnel, said the President of Kazakhstan.
The Head of State, introducing the new Defense Minister S.Zhasuzakov, mentioned his extensive experience and professional skills.
Nursultan Nazarbayev thanked I.Tasmagambetov for the executed work, and congratulated him on the appointment as a Deputy Prime Minister of the country.
In conclusion, the President of Kazakhstan wished the attendees further success in strengthening the defense capability of the country and boosting military preparedness of the Kazakh Army.
