In Moscow, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held talks with President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Nicolás Maduro.
Welcoming his distinguished guest, President Tokayev recalled Kazakhstan’s contribution to the Great Victory. He noted that 1.2 million people from Kazakhstan were mobilized to the front, half of whom heroically lost their lives.
The Kazakh President emphasized that he regards Venezuela as an important partner. However, he acknowledged that, due to objective reasons, significant achievements in bilateral cooperation have yet to be realized.
In this context, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev invited Nicolás Maduro to visit Kazakhstan on a state visit to discuss prospects for strengthening mutual ties.
The Venezuelan President expressed his pleasure at the opportunity to explore avenues for further cooperation. He also described the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Victory as an event of global significance, stressing that the peoples of the former Soviet Union played a pivotal role in achieving that victory.
Discussions on enhancing trade and economic cooperation focused particularly on the energy sector.
By the end of the meeting, both leaders agreed to prepare and exchange lists of priority export products to identify specific areas for growth between the two countries.
