Kassym-Jomart Tokayev thanked Petra Sörling for her consistent support of the development of table tennis in Kazakhstan, noting that our country attaches great importance to cooperation with the International Federation.
The President of Kazakhstan noted the growing interest among young people in table tennis, with more than 260 thousand people regularly engaging in the sport. According to the President, the Government is actively developing the specialized infrastructure necessary for training the country’s sports reserve and hosting competitions.
The Head of State also expressed special gratitude to Peter Sörling for her assistance in organizing the World Table Tennis Championships, which will take place in Astana in 2027 and will become the first world championship in this sport to be held in Central Asia. The interlocutors emphasized the historic significance of the upcoming World Championships, noting that hosting the event will give a significant impetus to the development of table tennis not only in Kazakhstan but throughout the region.
In turn, the ITTF official thanked Kassym-Jomart Tokayev for his comprehensive support of table tennis in our country and shared the Federation’s plans for further promoting the sport.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Head of State awarded Petra Sörling the Order of “Dostyk of II degree, for her contribution to the development of table tennis in Kazakhstan.
