A welcoming ceremony was held at Akorda for Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia Hun Manet, who arrived in Kazakhstan on an official visit.

During the ceremony, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Hun Manet introduced members of their respective official delegations. The commander of the Guard of Honor delivered a formal report, and the presidential orchestra performed the national anthems of the two countries.

The two leaders then proceeded to the East Hall of Akorda for a one-on-one meeting.

Welcoming the distinguished guest, the President of Kazakhstan noted that his visit would provide additional momentum to bilateral relations and open up new prospects for mutually beneficial cooperation.
“I believe your visit is of historic significance, as no Cambodian Prime Minister has ever visited Kazakhstan. At the same time, you have a special personal connection to our country: your father visited Kazakhstan back in 1982. Today, we will discuss a broad range of bilateral issues. Kazakhstan has great affection for your country. Many Kazakh people would like to visit Cambodia and discover its attractions. We need to discuss the possibility of establishing direct air links between our countries. We should also intensify exchanges in the humanitarian sphere,” Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said.

The Head of State emphasized that Kazakhstan and Cambodia possess considerable natural wealth, offering additional opportunities for cooperation in this area. According to him, strengthening trade and economic ties is also on the agenda for today’s talks.

In turn, the Prime Minister of Cambodia thanked Kassym-Jomart Tokayev for the invitation to visit Kazakhstan, noting that the two countries have maintained diplomatic relations for more than 30 years.
“I believe we now have an opportunity to expand cooperation in the energy sector. We could instruct our relevant agencies and ministries to jointly identify areas of mutual interest. Kazakhstan has considerable experience and advanced expertise in e-government. Our ministries are highly interested in exchanging experience in this field,” Hun Manet noted.

During the meeting, the two leaders held a substantive discussion on further expanding political dialogue, strengthening trade and economic ties, and enhancing cooperation within multilateral frameworks.
