Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was presented with a report on the main financial and economic indicators of the national company for the first half of the year and on the progress of reforming the gas industry.
The President was informed that since the beginning of 2022 JSC “NC “QazaqGaz” has implemented investment projects worth 400 billion tenge in Atyrau and Mangystau regions, as well as in Almaty at its own expense.
Since the beginning of 2022, the national company has subsidized gas prices for households and businesses for 389 billion tenge. During the same period, about 450 thousand Kazakhstani people got access to natural gas.
The Head of state was reported on solving the problem of gas shortage. According to Sanzhar Zharkeshov, the measures taken will ensure a surplus of natural gas in Kazakhstan for the upcoming fall and winter period.
At the same time, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was informed about the progress in the implementation of the project of the second string of the main gas pipeline Beineu - Bozoy - Shymkent and the signing of a new export contract with the People's Republic of China.
In addition, the President was briefed on the implementation of the medium-term strategy of the gas industry and increase of gas processing capacities, as well as on the prospects for further gasification of the country.
The Head of State was also briefed on the work to expand the gas resource base. According to the Chairman of JSC “NC “QazaqGaz”, a new gas field Anabai will be launched by the end of 2023, in addition, preparations for the development of the Pridorozhnoye field have begun.
Following the meeting, the President gave a number of instructions aimed at ensuring stable gas supplies to the domestic market, timely preparation for the heating period, introduction of the concept of careful gas consumption and further reform of pricing.
