The Head of State congratulated Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi on the successful hosting of the BRICS Summit, noting the excellent organization of the large-scale international event.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev highlighted India’s leading position as the world’s fastest-growing major economy, as well as its outstanding achievements in science and technology.
“Under your wise and strong leadership, India is confidently advancing towards progress and sustainable development,” the President said.
The Head of State emphasized that Kazakh-Indian relations are developing dynamically across a wide range of areas.
“Today, around 600 companies with Indian capital successfully operate in Kazakhstan. Last year, nearly 150,000 Indian citizens visited our country. A significant number of Indian students are studying in Kazakhstan. We also maintain fruitful cooperation within international organizations,” Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted.
For his part, Narendra Modi thanked the President of Kazakhstan for taking part in the BRICS Summit, noting that his speech was inspiring and contained a number of relevant initiatives.
The Prime Minister of India emphasized that he highly values the friendly and trust-based relations between the two countries.
The two leaders also discussed a number of specific issues on the bilateral agenda, including cooperation in energy, digitalization, education and tourism.
Narendra Modi stressed that both countries have significant potential for cooperation in high technology and creative industries. In this regard, the leaders welcomed the prospects for cooperation between Astana Hub and the Hyderabad technology ecosystem.
The Prime Minister of India invited representatives of Kazakhstan, particularly young people, to take part in the WAVES Creative Summit, which will be held in Mumbai next year.
The leaders also discussed prospects for developing cooperation between India and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stated that Kazakhstan, as the current Chair of the EAEU, welcomes negotiations with India on establishing a free trade zone with the EAEU and is ready to facilitate their advancement.
The Head of State invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to pay a state visit to Kazakhstan.
