In the course of the conversation the sides discussed the current state and trends of bilateral relations. The leaders expressed satisfaction with implementing the agreements reached on the results of the official visit of the President of Afghanistan to Kazakhstan in November 2015. In particular, there has been a significant increase in mutual trade recently.
The two heads of state exchanged congratulations on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and Afghanistan, the date of which was celebrated on February 12 this year.
In addition, the parties discussed the situation in Afghanistan, allowing for the fact that Kazakhstan, as a UN Security Council non-permanent member, chairs the Committee on Afghanistan.
The President of Afghanistan confirmed his participation in the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation on Science and Technologies, which shall be held in Astana this year.
