The President thanked President Xi Jinping for the invitation to participate in the World Artificial Intelligence Conference, noting the symbolic nature of hosting this event in Shanghai – the Pearl of the East.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev congratulated Xi Jinping on the 105th Anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China.
"China has immense authority within the international community, and its achievements are recognized all over the world. Today, we are all following the remarkable changes taking place in your country with great interest. I believe this is, above all, the result of your visionary leadership and relentless work. I deeply respect you as a strong leader and a wise politician of global stature guiding your nation forward. We are always ready to support your noble initiatives. Kazakhstan is consistently interested in strengthening our eternal strategic partnership with China. In recent years, the political dialogue between our nations has intensified significantly," Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stated.
According to the President, significant progress has been made in trade and economic cooperation. China is Kazakhstan’s largest trading partner, having invested USD 30 billion in the country’s economy. Last year, bilateral trade reached USD 49 billion. More than 8,500 Chinese companies are currently operating successfully in Kazakhstan, implementing large joint projects in industry, energy, petrochemicals, engineering, and agriculture.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev also highlighted the growing cultural and humanitarian ties.
“Last year, more than 1 million Chinese citizens visited Kazakhstan. Cultural centers have opened in the capitals of both countries, and Lu Ban Workshops are successfully operating in Kazakhstan. This is further evidence of the friendship and mutual trust between our peoples,” the President emphasized.
The Head of State drew attention to the high level of cooperation on the international stage, noting similar positions of both countries on global sustainable development and security.
Effective contacts have been maintained within the UN, SCO, CICA, and the ‘Central Asia–China’ format.
For his part, President Xi Jinping welcomed President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, stating that the meeting provided a favorable opportunity to discuss the bilateral agenda.
“Through joint efforts, the eternal comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Kazakhstan has reached a high level. At the same time, there is significant potential for further development. The President of Kazakhstan pursues a friendly policy toward China, which serves the core interests of both nations,” Xi Jinping said.
President Xi also praised the large‑scale reforms initiated by President Tokayev, congratulated him on the adoption of the new Constitution, and wished success in the upcoming elections to the Kurultai.
At the conclusion of the meeting, a Program and Roadmap for trade and economic cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the People’s Republic of China was signed for the period 2027–2030.
