President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, on the sidelines of the Kazakhstan-China Investment Forum, participated via videoconference in the launch ceremony marking the start of construction of a corn deep-processing industrial park in the Zhambyl Region.
The project is being implemented by Chinese company Fufeng Group, one of the global leaders in the field of biofermentation. At the first stage, 350 million US dollars will be invested in the development of the production complex. The facility will have the capacity to process up to 500,000 tonnes of corn annually.
The second stage envisages increasing the plant’s processing capacity to 3 million tonnes of corn per year and expanding the range of products manufactured. Total investment at this stage will amount to 1.15 billion US dollars. The establishment of the industrial park will create approximately 1,500 jobs and build a complete production cycle for the deep processing of grain in Kazakhstan.
The project implementation will contribute to the development of deep processing of agricultural raw materials, expansion of industrial cooperation with China, and strengthening the export potential of Kazakhstan’s agro-industrial sector.
