
The Head of State noted the significance of close cooperation with the WCO in developing Kazakhstan's customs legislation and administration.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev underlined that Kazakhstan is making significant efforts to strengthen Eurasia’s transport connectivity and create optimal conditions for cargo transit. He highlighted that the country is consistently developing a smart border model by deploying digital solutions to streamline procedures.

In turn, Ian Saunders commended the steady development of relations between the WCO and Kazakhstan. He particularly noted that the country has made major progress in improving customs administration, introducing modern digital solutions, and building up the institutional capacity of relevant authorities.
The parties reaffirmed their commitment to further deepening mutually beneficial cooperation has been developing successfully for over 30 years.
Furthermore, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Ian Saunders exchanged views on emerging challenges and trends in global trade. Particular attention was paid to the prospects for expanding trade and economic ties while enhancing the transport and logistics potential of the Central Asian region.
At the conclusion, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev awarded Ian Saunders the Order of "Dostyk" II Degree in recognition of his significant contribution to fostering close bonds of friendship and partnership.
